Patty Merli learned the art of saddle fitting through the Society of Master Saddlers and traveled to Scotland to study with Master Saddler Kay Hastilow.
Patty feels that a lifetime of riding and a career as a Event and Dressage trainer has been the perfect preparation for being a saddle fitter. Years of developing horses and riders has given her the understanding of the needs of both horse and rider to achieve maximum performance.
“I am the horse’s advocate” is often heard when Patty is at an appointment, and finding the best solution for the horse is of foremost importance. She enjoys the attention to detail and the subtle changes that can have a huge impact on a horse’s way of going. It is also very important to her that people leave a saddle fitting appointment with a better understanding of a proper fit and how it pertains to their particular horse.
Although she calls Charleston South Carolina her home, she and her Jack Russell Terrier “Agnes” travel the entire eastern coast saddle fitting.
